Millard North High School Marching Band lights up the field in the dark

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) It was awfully early for the sound of Friday night but the Millard North Marching Band took the field for a performance on Daybreak.

There are 175 students in the band. We appealed to the exuberance of their youth to get the players on the turf long before Friday's showdown with Creighton Prep.

Trumpet section leader Joseph Roth is part of the motivation that keeps the band's engines running. That includes guidance on marching, playing and just plain lighting the fires. "We have a couple chants that we do before every competition - get everyone fired up to perform," he said.

Drum major Erica Flores said she has a lot of responsibility, "but it's very much a team opportunity and we work as a team. We're a very tight-knit group."

A tight-knit group with the uncanny ability to find this kind of energy at 5:45 a.m.

Give them a listen and a round of applause.
