OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- The Omaha Mayor's office is proposing a layover of further action in deciding on a solid waste contract pending a further review.
In a letter to the City Council Friday, the mayor's office recommends "a layover of further action," until HDR's Solid Waste Management Division can provide an independent review of the bid submitted by West Central Sanitation.
West Central Sanitation was one of four bidders.
The mayor was recommending the bid from FCC Environmental. She had said earlier that after three years of studies and looking into options she was supporting the FCC Environmental bid that she said is the lowest bid and the best value for taxpayers.
The recommendation went to the City Council but in Friday's letter the mayor said, "It appears from the Tuesday discussion there are several points of view regarding the levels of services we should provide."
The city's current waste contract expires at the end of the year.
