Marines were at Elmwood Park Saturday collecting toys and meeting with anyone that wanted to stop by as a part of their annual Toys For Tots campaign.

Organizers said the community has been very generous already this year, and they were proud to see their collection boxes fill up.

Donations came in many forms, including support of the campaign itself by community organizations that allow the marines to host public events like Saturday's.

Ultimately, they said it's just about doing everything possible to make the holidays a little brighter for people that need help.

"Everything that we get for the organization goes back to the kids of Omaha, so that's the most important thing, is showing our face in the community, letting them know that we're out here and just giving back as best we can," Jesus A. Leza Jr. said.

There will be other events held in the months leading up to the winter holidays. .
