Knicely Done: Just the right mix
As Tom Ware looks back at his 27-year career in the recording industry an incident when he was only six years old stands out.
"I remember the heath stereo that my Dad bought and I took it on the lawn with a long extension cord," said Ware in an interview with WOWT 6 News.
"I played music as loud as it could play to the neighborhood."
Now as the owner of Ware House Productions, Ware is recording and mixing a variety of music that might interest the neighborhood.
"During my career I tried to get out and get a real job and I come back like a moth to the flame," he said. "This is something that I love to do and I've never going to be rich at it probably, but my payoff is that I don't work a day in my life because I love what I do."
His clients appreciate Ware's skills. His company is listed on a national list of approved studios in the music industry. Because of that some well known performers like Lady Gaga and Snoop Dog have dropped in to record music.
Ware is also a performer himself. He's the drummer for the local rock band Skudder.
"We don't take ourselves very seriously," he said. "We just have a lot of fun and that's what music is all about. If you're having fun making music it shows on the inside and those are the things that you can't change using technology."
Ware is well versed on both sides of the industry.
"It amazes me that I'm still beating the odds in this crazy business," he said. "I feel very lucky that I've been able to fanagle it."
