AMES, Iowa (WOWT) -- Iowa roads officials closed Interstate 680 on Wednesday due to flooding caused by continued rains and melting snow.

The Iowa Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Iowa State Patrol, urged travelers to check 511ia.org for current flood-related closures and detour routes; and to never enter a water-covered roadway.

Further north, Harrison County Sheriff's Office issued a warning just before 7:30 p.m. that Highway 30 was closed to eastbound traffic at the Missouri Valley exit of Interstate 20. Authorities would be routing local traffic through, according to the release from the Sheriff's Office.
