Inmate serving time for Douglas County killing dies in prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) -- Milton Felder, sentenced last July to 36 to 40 years on a manslaughter conviction for the shooting death of Brandon White, has died at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.

Felder's sentence began July 10, 2018. He had been convicted in Douglas County of Manslaughter and Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Felon.

Authorities say that while the cause of Felder's death is yet to be determined, he was being treated for a longterm medical condition.

State law requires a grand jury investigation when someone dies in custody.

Police said the the fatal shooting of White was the result of a robbery of approximately $100 worth of marijuana that turned violent.

Felder was originally charged with first degree murder. He eventually pleaded no contest to manslaughter and felon in possession of a firearm.
