Police identify victims of triple homicide

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Omaha Police have identified the victims of a triple homicide Tuesday night as John W. Dalton, 70, Jean Dalton, 65, and Leonna Dalton-Phillip,18.

A felony warrant for First Degree Murder has been issued for John Dalton Jr. He was initially identified as a person of interest in the case.

John W. Dalton is identified as his father, Jean Dalton is identified as his mother and Leonna Dalton-Phillip was his niece.

Investigators were still on the scene into early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to a home in the 3900 block of N. 37th Street shortly before 8 p.m. to investigate a shooting Tuesday. They found three victims dead at the scene.

Leonna Dalton-Phillip was a student at Omaha Burke High School. The district issued the following statement Wednesday.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of one of our students, Leonna Dalton-Phillip. Leonna was a senior at Burke High School. We extend our deepest, heartfelt sympathy to the family. Counselors will be available at Burke High School today from 1-4 p.m. for any students who wish to speak with someone."

Police say John Dalton Jr. should be considered armed and dangerous. He might be driving a Black 2015 GMC Terrain with Nebraska license plate UKB787 or a Red 2007 Chevy Tahoe with Nebraska plate VRD559.
