Power restored after outage as squirrel gets the blame
The power is up and running again in West Omaha. The squirrel responsible for the outage is probably not.
A couple of circuit outages knocked out electricity to more than 1,500 OPPD customers around 9 o'clock Thursday morning. Additionally some West Omaha traffic signals were knocked out of service.
More than 1,500 customers were impacted in an area bound by Corby St. to West Dodge Rd. and 144th St. to to 168th St., as well as Cuming St. to Harney Cir., 144th St. to 156th St.
Power was restored by approximately 10:10. OPPD crews said a squirrel caused the problem. No official word on the squirrel's fate but that was a lot of electricity.
