A company in an office park in west Omaha quietly working on cutting edge technology and hardly anyone knows they are there.
The Lindsay Corporation in Omaha are developing devices they call Fieldnet and it's a little like having a weather man out on the farm.
"It keeps track of when each field receives rain how much rain it received and it actually looks at the forecast as well so that if it sees rain in the forecast in the future it will actually help to not apply water today because there's a high likelihood of rain coming in the near future,” said Brian Magnusson, VP of technology at Lindsay Corp.
These controls can be retrofitted to irrigation systems decades old. It's a part of a quiet revolution in agriculture in which Omaha is playing a big part.
