Here's a little greenery to boost you out of the winter doldrums

Look what 2019 is bringing to town. The Mega Millions jackpot for the New Year's Day drawing will be worth an estimated $425 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40 million and continues to grow by at least $5 million each drawing until a winner puts a stop to it.

There have been 19 consecutive drawings since October 26, 2018, without a jackpot winner. That run has pumped-up the pot for Tuesday, January 1 to that $425 mark or $254.6 million with the cash option selected. This is 8th-largest jackpot in the game's history.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot on record was tapped in October 2018 when one winning ticket was sold in South Carolina for a $1.537 billion jackpot. That one is still shrouded in mystery. The prize has not yet been claimed.
