Good Samaritan returns to Omaha to mow lawns for those in need

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A goal of mowing 50 lawns in 50 states wasn't enough of a challenge for Rodney Smith Jr.

He completed the goal this summer. Now, he's back at it again.

Smith spent Tuesday morning in Omaha, mowing three different lawns and doing it all for free.

"A single mother said she needed help with her lawn and here I am," he explained.

Smith finished the lawn in under 30 minutes.

"If they're not there, I just do it and go about my way. I call that a mow by," Smith joked.

The single mother showed her appreciation through text and let Smith know she will put her unexpected free time to good use.

"She'll be able to spend time with her daughter. That's why we do it," he said.

Oct. 30 is the end of lawn mowing season, but that won't slow Smith down.

He has plans to return to Omaha in December to help with snow.
