Four people were chased from their home by fire early Sunday morning when flames from a burning vehicle connected with the house.

It happened around 3 a.m. near 40th and Blondo. One of the residents of the home noticed the fire and called 911.

Authorities say the smoke alarms did not go off. It wasn’t clear why.

Investigators traced the origin of the fire to the vehicle. The flames communicated to the house.

A gas line ruptured. A Metropolitan Utilities District crew was called in to shut off the fuel.

Everyone in the home made it out safely. The Red Cross is helping them with temporary shelter.

The cause of the fire in the vehicle that started all this remains under investigation.
