Fort Calhoun decommissioning trims OPPD workforce

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Nearly three dozen Omaha Public Power District jobs are about to be eliminated in a second round of layoffs to take effect April 30th.

Thirty-three jobs will be cut. OPPD notified employees at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant of the staff reductions.

This comes as the facility undergoes a lengthy decommissioning process that will impact 400 workers.

OPPD all of the employees who lose their jobs will receive severance packages.
