Former teacher sentenced for attempted sexual assault
Former Omaha middle school teacher Amy Nowaczyk, 26, has been sentenced to one to two years behind bars for Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child.
Nowaczyk was arrested in April after a 13-year-old boy told officials he had sexual contact with her.
Project Harmony’s Gene Klein said, “Our statistics show, at least in this calendar year, about 15 percent of the cases that we see a female is the alleged offender.”
Most of the time when we think about child sexual abuse we think of men as the perpetrator but when the roles are reversed reactions can be different.
“It’s not OK,” Klein said, “but sometimes we are twisted in a way in what’s normal and what’s not normal. Sometimes a young male with an older female is not seen as abuse and it is abuse.”
With good time Nowaczyk could be paroled in six months.
Nowaczyk will have to register as a sex offender.
