Former corrections officer enters plea in embezzlement case

Daniel Glazebrook faces sentencing after entering a No Contest plea in a theft case.

In exchange for the plea to a charge of Unauthorized Use of a Financial Device - over $5,000, two other charges were dropped: Theft by Unlawful Taking and Second Degree Forgery.

Glazebrook was arrested in January, accused of embezzling $173,000 from the Douglas County Corrections Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 8. Prosecutors said the thefts took place over a period of three years beginning in January, 2016. Glazebrook had served as F.O.P. Lodge 8 Treasurer.

Authorities said the Lodge 8 Executive Board discovered unusual transactions and missing funds from the union bank account. That led investigators to documents resulting in the charges and Glazebrook's arrest.

He is scheduled for sentencing in July and could face up to 20 years in prison.
