Authorities say water began flooding the Hamburg, Iowa water treatment plant Monday morning.
The plant was shut down Sunday as the waters rose. Power was shut off around 5 P.M. Then the deluge began.
Emergency management crews are providing bottled water to residents. The local hospital in Hamburg has been disconnected from the water treatment plant and is relying on other sources.
Water customers are being asked to only use water only as necessary. They're asked to delay use of washing machines, dish washers, and other uses so that the system can maintain treatment.
