Fire caused extensive damage to a West Omaha home Wednesday night.

It broke out in a house near Eldorado and Cuming Street.

According to investigators on scene, it appeared to have started on the west side of the home in the garage area and then traveled to the second floor into the attic. It also burned through the roof of the home.

Battalion Chief Bob McDonnel said, "It was very busy at the time with the storm rolling through. We haven't ascertained what caused the fire. There was a thunderstorm rolling through, fireworks of course. Fire investigators right now are looking at it."

Everyone who was inside got out safely.
