Residents of an apartment complex in Council Bluffs were left wondering when they will be allowed back into their homes after many of them
due to flooding.
The water was still high at the Valley View Estates on Thursday.
Flooding on Mosquito Creek closed down Valley View Dr. on Wednesday, and the water seeped into the parking lot of the complex.
Residents chose to stay with family, at a hotel or at a Red Cross shelter after Council Bluffs firefighters assisted with their evacuation.
One resident wasn't able to find his way back to his apartment until Thursday afternoon.
"I saw pictures of just how bad it got. The water was just covering the stairs up there it was... it was just surreal," Donald Vance said. "Wanted to get here, get on some warmer clothes and grab my wallet so I could at least have some sort of security."
By Thursday afternoon water began to clear from Valley View Dr.
