OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - We had a very mild start to the day this morning, temperatures only fell into the low 60s here in the metro. There have been a few more clouds than what we saw on Saturday, but strong south winds gusting up to 40mph at times and April sunshine went to work this afternoon, bringing us some of the warmest weather we've seen so far this year! Temperatures warmed into the mid and upper 80s across much of the area, topping out at 87 here in the metro. Temperatures will remain very warm this evening, still in the 80s at 7pm, dropping into the middle and lower 70s by 10pm. I am still tracking a chance for showers and storms tonight, but it looks to hold off until after 10pm for the metro area. Storms will initially develop by 7 or 8pm well to the west of the metro. Some of those storms may be on the strong side with some small hail, but will weaken with time overnight as temperatures cool off. Scattered showers and storms will be likely overnight into Monday morning, with temperatures falling into the lower 60s and upper 50s.
A few showers may be left over on Monday, mainly during the morning hours. Temperatures will initially be in the 60s, but cooler air will move in during the day on breezy northwest winds. Conditions will cool off into the 50s with cloudy skies. A few breaks in the clouds are possible by late in the day. Temperatures will fall into the mid 40s by Tuesday morning.
More typical spring weather will move in for the middle of next week with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We'll warm into the mid to upper 70s on Friday, with a chance for showers or storms late Friday evening into Saturday morning. We'll stay warm on Saturday with highs in the upper 70s to around 80.
