OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) A 27-year-old Omaha man has been arrested in an incident where a 4-year-old child was shot in the hand on Sunday.

Officers were called to a home near 33rd and Blondo Street just after 5 p.m. They found 4-year-old Princeton Davis, who was shot in the hand.

The child was taken to the hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

On Monday, Omaha Police revealed they had arrested 27-year-old Jared Nichols. Nichols was at the home at the time of the shooting.

Police determined the child was shot due to Nichols’ actions and that Nichols then threw the gun into a nearby sewer.

Nichols was booked for child abuse by intent-serious injury and tampering with physical evidence.
