Charges upgraded for 2 accused in Omaha after teen who was shot dies

Omaha police revealed today that a 16-year-old boy, who was recently shot, died last Wednesday, March 18.

Daheem Conley was shot in the area of 37th and Ellison on March 12.

Two people were arrested. On Tuesday, charges were upgraded to second-degree murder against 17-year old Demetrius Dagosta. He will be charged as an adult.

Charges were upgraded Wednesday against suspect 17-year old Jaydin Smith, who had been charged as an adult for assault and d. He, too, is facing second-degree murder charges.

Both teens are also facing charges of possession of a weapon to commit a felong and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The two were arrested last week following an investigation into the circumstances that led to a shooting victim being dropped off in a private vehicle at Immanuel Hospital just after 10 p.m. March 13, according an OPD release. The victim was later transferred to Bergan Mercy with life-threatening injuries, the release states.
