In a battle of coaches with Nebraska ties, Virginia grabbed the first win of the 2015 CWS, topping Arkansas 5-3.

Brian O'Connor, the Council Bluffs native and coach of the Cavaliers, watched his team tally an early 1-0 lead after Joe McCarthy knocked a solo home run to the stands in right field. Arkansas later tied it and took the 2-1 lead.

The Hogs, led by coach and former Nebraska skipper Dave Van Horn, saw their own home run later in the game as Andrew Benintendi recorded his 20th shot of the season.

In the game's 8th inning, Kenny Towns hit an RBI double to right, bringing in the game winning run. The "Hoo's" scored once more to ice the win.
