Carol Hotel comes down
A metro hotel that has been plagued by crime in recent years was torn down this week.
Some called it an eyesore, others say it was a hot spot for crime; either way the Carol Hotel is gone for good.
Those who live and work in the area say that they were notified recently that the hotel would be destroyed. Quinn Insurance neighbors the Carol Hotel. Owner Timothy Quinn says news the hotel would be torn down was music to his ears.
"It's a happy day for all of us; it was such a terrible hotel,” said Quinn. “There was a lot of prostitution, drug dealing and violence. A lot of
FBI and Federal Marshals in our parking lot. It was pretty bad situation, very bad. Dangerous, actually."
The short-term plan is to leave the area open for parking, but larger plans appear to be in the works.
