California congressman visits Council Bluffs

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - California Congressman Eric Swalwell visited Council Bluffs Saturday afternoon.

The Democratic lawmaker spoke with local residents about a wide variety of topics.

The main focus of the visit was to discuss college debt and tuition prices, health care and infrastructure.

The congressman hasn't officially made a bid for a possible 2020 presidential run but told 6 News that a decision is coming soon.

"I'm getting really close to getting in, I'm just making a decision in the next few weeks with my family. But I find my most optimism for our future when I get outside of Washington, so coming to Council Bluffs is reinvigorating to come here and see people who are optimistic about the future of our country," Swalwell said.

He plans to spend the rest of the weekend making more stops through his home state of Iowa.
