Not wanting to miss out on one second of football season, the Bryan High football team was out at midnight to kick off a new year.
Practice officially started Monday and the team wasted no time with a midnight to 2 a.m. no-pads practice. Despite the wake-up call, or maybe it was a long night, the students were ready to practice under the stars.
Tyler Johnson, the head football coach said they wanted to build the intensity of the first practice and make this a special day. The kids slept in the school overnight to make it a full outing.
This is the first year Bryan High will use the impact helmets that helps coaches determine if a child may have a concussion. It monitors how many times a kid take a hit. All OPS football teams will get the new helmets.
Johnson said he'll hand them out at practice in the morning.
