Bellevue middle school teacher arrested for child porn possession

BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) -- A teacher at Logan Fontenelle Middle School was arrested Friday morning at the school on suspicion of possession of child porn.

Bellevue Police officers were at the school Friday morning to arrest Roger Jaeger, a seventh-grade science teacher. The teacher was escorted out of the building without incident, according to a letter sent out to school families by Principal Doug Schaefer.

Jaeger is on administrative leave, the letter states.

"She texted me this afternoon while I was at lunch and told me that while they were in class the police department came in and arrested him, read him his rights and escorted him out," Garcia Christy, whose daughter attends Logan Fontenelle, said.

BPD said officers were executing a search warrant at Jaeger's house but said they had no reason to believe that any photos they found were of students.

"When it's across the street from your house, it freaks you out a little bit," Jaeger's neighbor, Heather Rudolf said.

Neighbors said they didn't know the teacher well and that he usually kept to himself.

The case came to light when Police was contacted Thursday by a computer repair store in Bellevue.

Officers were called to Affordable Computer Repair on Franklin Street regarding possible child pornography on a customer's computer.

"What he told me is he had already got off what he needed. He just needed it wiped and reloaded," Steven Knickerson Sr., the owner of Affordable Computer Repair said. "It's in your brain. You can't get rid of it. It's not like a computer where you can erase it."

Knickerson said he Googled Jaeger and discovered a teacher. That's when he decided to contact the police.

It turns out, Jaeger taught Knickerson's son last year.

The officers and detectives confirmed that "there was possible child pornography on a computer being repaired." The computer was seized.

"Early this morning we served a search warrant on the computer itself. And we confirmed that it likely had the images that were reported to us on it," Bellevue Police Chief Mark Elbert said.

On Friday morning, a search warrant was executed on the device and police said that resulted in "hundreds of suspected child pornography images being found."

Police said the customer who had taken the computer to the repair shop was Roger Jaeger. A search warrant for his home followed. He was arrested at the school.

Police said Jaeger would be booked on numerous counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

He was booked into jail Friday afternoon. No bond was set at the time.

Police said they have other devices they will investigate to find out if any more of them contain the imagery.
