Attorney General candidate arrested for assault

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Attorney General candidate Evangelos Argyrakis was arrested for allegedly assaulting his father earlier this month.

Argyrakis' father told police that when he was in the kitchen of his home Evangelos entered and began getting angry with him over money.

Argyrakis' father says that Evangelos then started punching him in the face and attempted to grab a knife from a kitchen drawer.

Police reports say that during the altercation Evangelos was unable to grab a knife and began to strangle his father.

When Evangelos let go his father escaped the house and called police from a neighbor's home.

Evangelos told police that his actions were self-defense and that his father had threatened to throw hot water on him.

Evangelos was then arrested for assault and terroristic threats.
