Antwan Lovejoy sentenced in deadly carjacking

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Antwan Lovejoy has been sentenced to 60 years to life in prison for the murder of Andrew Peek during a carjacking in Omaha last August.

The incident happened at the 30th and Dodge Bucky's on August 12, 2018.

Peek, 27, was shot to death. Witnesses said that they saw a man pumping gas when two men approached and shot him before driving off in the victim's vehicle.

Lovejoy was arrested two days later. He was initially charged with First Degree Murder and pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of Second Degree Murder.

In addition to the April 29th sentence for the homicide Judge Timothy Burns also sentenced Lovejoy to 5-years for Use of a Gun. That sentence runs concurrently.

A second suspect in the case, Saturnino Covarrubias Jr., was also arrested in the case. He is charged with First Degree Murder and that case is pending.
