Anonymous $20K donation spreads holiday cheer for homeless
A special Christmas gift for our community's homeless was delivered on Thursday.
Hundreds of those staying at the Siena/Francis House had the opportunity to pick items at the 72nd and Hickory Walmart using a $40 gift card each. An anonymous donor left a $20,000 cash donation to make it all happen. People staying there along with staff members say they're so grateful.
"It shows the community here in Omaha does care about their homeless men and women and are just willing to help out of their pocket,” said resident Stephen Tanner.
"I suspect he shares our mission of serving people who are in this town, the most in need I would say,” said Siena/Francis Development Director Tim Sully.
Some of the more common items picked out were clothes along with some food.
