Amato's closing its doors June 23rd

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- After 45 years in business the owners of Amato’s Café & Catering have announced they are closing the doors. The last day of business will be June 23, 2019.

Sam Amato started in the catering and restaurant business nearly 50 years ago, first with a food truck, then restaurants including the current location at 64th and Center which opened in 1993.

Even before Sam passed away a couple of years ago, he and wife Ann had discussed when they would start to wind down the business, retire, and spend more time with their grandchildren.

“This has been a labor of love for us for a long time. Our customers have grown to be like family, so saying goodbye will be difficult, but it’s the right time”, said Ann Amato.

Amato’s will be open 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday – Friday and 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through June 23rd.

They will be holding an online auction of restaurant supplies and contents after June 23rd.
