OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Strong bodies are helping to build strong minds as a campaign on wheels rolls across America.
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is behind the effort.
The bicycle ride launched at Nebraska Medicine Saturday in support of pediatric mental health.
Participants included local health care professional and state leaders.
Gov. Pete Ricketts said, “It's important for kids to be able to get that activity so they can have healthy bodies but also healthy brains."
According to the AACAP, childhood mental illness is common but treatable.
Organizers recommend that if any child needs help, their parents should reach out to their local psychiatric professionals.
Omaha raised more than $10,000 for this event.
