6 Nights of Lights: Snowman surprise
One Omaha street took their decorating idea from the holiday movie "Christmas with the Kranks."
Part of the movie's humorous story line includes every home in the Kranks' neighborhood having a massive "Frosty" snowman decoration adorning the roof.
Blair Racker's street now mirrors that, with snowmen perching on the peaks of several homes.
"A few weeks ago, I got a call from my wife asking for my PayPal account information. She said she was at a warehouse auction full of 'awesome antique Christmas decor.' Being busy at work, i didn't ask too many questions and reluctantly gave her the info she needed," Racker said.
That night, the Racker garage was packed full of big, plastic snowmen.
Racker's wife convinced all of the neighbors it would be fun to mount the snowmen on their roofs, just like in the movie.
"I didn't have to think long before I knew exactly who this project would fall upon," Racker said. "After a solid week of late nights and near-death experiences trying to scale the peaks of roofs, each home on our street was mounted with a 'Frosty.'"
Though the decorating idea started as something humorous, it became a whole lot more than a laugh.
"In all honesty, I had a lot of fun doing this and working with each neighbor in getting the job done. Seeing friends and neighbors come together and grow closer is what this time of year is all about," Racker said.
The array of rooftop snowmen can be viewed at M St. and S. 198th Cir.
