Rachel Urbanski is a proud East Coaster loving life and working in Omaha. Her love for the news started at a young age. She and her twin sister, Rebecca, would try to manipulate mom and dad into turning on the TV to "watch the news" at dinner time. It didn't work, it also didn't take long for her to fall in love with the stories Washington D.C. reporters were telling.
Prior to WOWT, Rachel was anchoring and working as an MMJ in Norfolk, NE for two years.
One of her memorable stories was out of Madison County, Nebraska where she produced a five-part series on the training it takes to become a deputy. She went on to win the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Gold Award in Best Investigative or In-depth Series in 2017.
But Rachel missed the city and knew Omaha was her perfect fit. She joined the WOWT team in December and couldn't be happier!
Rachel's favorite part of the job is meeting people! She loves to listen to their stories and has enjoyed getting to know the people of Omaha and beyond.
When she's not working she wishes she could spend all her spare time with her family, who all live on the East Coast, but settles for FaceTiming with them instead. When she's back east you can find her in the city or near the water; she loves the ocean and clamming in the bay with Dad. She also enjoys the Omaha Zoo, baseball games, puzzles, food, watching movies via FaceTime with her sister in DC, being outside and of course, meeting new people.
