Anastasia Champ joined the WOWT 6 News team in July 2017 as Daybreak Weekend Anchor and weeknight reporter.

Born and raised into a military family, Anastasia is proudly half Korean and knows little of what it’s like to stay in one place. Anastasia has lived in five different places throughout her childhood, and she now gladly considers Maryland “home.” She attended the University of Maryland where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Anastasia also has a Bachelor’s degree in American History.

Before coming to Omaha, Anastasia got her TV start at NBC Nebraska in Hastings. She started as a reporter in January 2015, covering just about anything in the tri-cities. Anastasia is most proud to have been able to bring the best storm coverage when the Groundhog Day Blizzard swept through central Nebraska in 2016. In May 2016, Anastasia was promoted to morning anchor and quickly became a staple in the community. Anastasia spearheaded a larger social media presence for the morning show and became the conversation starter for their daily Facebook Live chats.

While at UMD, Anastasia worked for several different media platform and worked for the prestigious campus television station, Capital News Service, as an anchor and reporter. She covered events in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Anastasia is most proud to have shadowed Maryland’s gubernatorial candidate and winner, Governor Larry Hogan, throughout his entire campaign.

Anastasia also proudly interned with the Baltimore Sun’s Media Group. There, she shot and edited videos for the community papers around the Baltimore area. From this experience, Anastasia saw the humanity in people and gained greater love for communities, which she has learned more about in Nebraska. Anastasia is excited to continue her career in Nebraska.

In her spare time, Anastasia enjoys running, though she will tell you she is nowhere near a hardcore runner. She also picks up a book on occasion and will always enjoy a shopping day and crafting. If you have a story idea, you can reach her at She looks forward to connecting with the metro area!
