Collin Ruane joined the WOWT 6 News team in May 2016.
Collin is originally from Bellevue, but he also spent time in Idaho before heading off to college at the University of Missouri. Both sides of his family came to the area in the 1980's and many of his relatives are still here in the Heartland.
Collin has wanted to work in local television since he was young. He says that WOWT is the station that made him realize his dream. After initially wanting to be a meteorologist, he discovered his passion for news and wanted to work with those people on channel 6 someday. Wouldn't you know it: He's doing that right now and he's thrilled to be working with journalists he's looked up to his entire life.
Collin received his Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Missouri, where he spent four years as a reporter, anchor, and producer at KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri before working as an intern at WOWT. While at Mizzou, Collin covered a story that drew national attention and is what he considers to be the most meaningful story of his college career: Student protests amid racial tensions on campus.
In his free time, Collin enjoys running, Husker football (sorry alma mater!), and spending time with family. He's run a half-marathon and hopes to do another one soon. His time in Idaho made him into a big Seahawks fan as well and he loves spending time with family now that they're nearby again.
