Danielle Avitable joined WOWT 6 News in August 2020 as co-anchor of Live at Daybreak, but she is no stranger to the Midwest.
Danielle joins the news team from Columbus, Ohio, where she was the Weekend Evening Anchor. Before that, she worked in her home state of Florida after beginning her broadcast career in Mississippi.
Danielle is an Emmy nominated and award-winning journalist who has covered many national stories. She was on-scene covering the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting, and Dayton mass shooting. Danielle has also reported on several severe weather events such as Hurricane Matthew and tornadoes in Dayton that caused catastrophic damage.
In her free time, Danielle loves getting involved with animal advocacy groups. In the past, she spearheaded “Caring for Mississippi” Rescue Week, which helped shelter animals find their forever homes.
Danielle’s hobbies include running, traveling, trying new restaurants and hanging out with family and friends. She graduated from Florida State University and currently lives in Omaha with her husband and their dog.
