From the mountains to the flatlands, Courtney Kreider joins 6 News from her hometown station in Redding, Ca.

A northern California girl at heart, Courtney was born and raised in a log cabin in Viola a short distance away from the town of late country legend Merle Haggard.

She attended college at California State University, Chico (go Wildcats!) where she majored in Criminal Justice.

Being a voice for the men and women in blue is one thing she has remained passionate and dedicated to in her reporting.

Realness, transparency, and accountability are important to her in every story.

At her former station, Courtney was the morning reporter, fill-in anchor, and weekend forecaster.

Her true calling came while on the frontlines of historical devastation during the 2018 Carr Fire and the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise. The deadly wrath of these wildfires brought both national and international attention to her hometown.

When not out on the fire lines or buried in a blizzard, Courtney enjoys horseback riding, country concerts, and weekend getaways to wine country — which she knows is much further now.

She's excited to call the Midwest her new home and is looking forward to her first Huskers game!
