Police investigate at two locations after shooting report in north-central Omaha
Emergency personnel took a woman to the hospital
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police are looking into a shooting reported Monday morning near 72nd and Maple streets.
OPD confirmed to 6 News that officers were investigating two locations connected to the shooting. Officers were at 73rd and Corby streets, just south of Maple Street, after police were also called to a gas station about three blocks away just before 10 a.m.
Officers were initially called to a Speed Mart location just north of 72nd and Maple streets, where crime tape had been placed around a white car. Police told 6 News that a man had been taken by ambulance to Nebraska Medical Center from that scene, but later clarified that the victim was a 20-year-old woman. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
According to the OPD report, she told officers at the gas station that she had been in a nearby parking lot, behind an apartment complex, when two Black men confronted her and demanded money, then shot her.
Police later tracked down two “persons of interest,” and took them into custody in order to interview them about the incident.
This is a developing story. Stay with 6 News for updates.
