Omaha fire crews battle detached garage blaze

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha fire crews battled a detached garage fire Monday afternoon.

OFD tells 6 News they were called to a home near 48th and Capitol around 12:45 p.m. Heavy fire was seen on arrival.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire from the exterior of the structure; it did not spread to the house. Only one car was on location at the time; it was parked outside.

Southerly winds kept the smoke relatively low to the ground -- this left parts of the Dundee neighborhood filled with smoke for a portion of the afternoon.

OFD also said they had concerns about power and fiber-optic cable lines above the garage, but no electrical issues or loss of power were reported.
