Athlete of the Week: Elkhorn North’s Britt Prince
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - With Britt Prince leading the Wolves, they have pulled off quite an unlikely accomplishment. Winning two basketball state championships in the school’s first two years. To put this into perspective, it’s important to consider new schools normally take time to establish their programs. It’s rare to start from scratch and beat a bunch of schools that have been doing it for decades.
Britt is only a sophomore and in the latest state championship, she scored 21 points on 7-16 shooting while adding seven assists. That’s the part of her game that was on display in the championship game. She draws the attention of defenses, sometimes it’s a double team, and she can find open teammates. As much as Britt makes it go for Elkhorn North she took less than half the team’s shots. More times than not somebody else has a better look and she sets them up.
Britt has 22 scholarship offers right now, only halfway through her high school career. This past weekend she was in Iowa City and saw Creighton beat Iowa in person.
