Athlete of the Week: Westside’s Nate Germonprez

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Nate Germonprez dominated two events winning two gold medals at the state swim meet. He won with 100 butterfly with a personal best and set a new state record in the 100 freestyle with a 1:35.60. The following weekend, the junior at Westside traveled to Westmont, Illinois to swim with some of the best in the country in the TYR Pro Swim Series.

Nate will head attend Texas after high school and in the meantime, he’s focusing on his technique. That attention to detail at a younger age has helped him reach the success he enjoys today and he knows it will serve him well in the future as well. His long-term goal, like many, is making the Olympics, Germonprez actually swam in the trials last summer at CHI Health Center.
