Lincoln man sentenced for June 2020 murder in Omaha’s Capitol District
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Lincoln man convicted of the first-degree murder of a 27-year-old man in the Capitol District in June 2020 was sentenced this week in Douglas County Court.
Douglas County District Judge Duane Dougherty sentenced Marlon Miranda Jr., 28, on Wednesday to life in prison for killing Jose Santos Parra Juarez. Miranda was also sentenced to another 45-50 years for use of a weapon to commit a felony, with sentences to run consecutively, according to court records.
Juarez was killed in an overnight shooting reported June 22, 2020, near 10th Street and Capitol Avenue. An off-duty Bellevue Police officer who called in the incident said he shot Miranda after Juarez had been shot, reports state.
