Rusty’s First Alert Forecast - A long stretch of 90°+ weather starts today. Be safe during this heat wave.
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - It will be a warm morning out the door with temperatures in the 70s and dew points in the 60s. This will be the start of a hot stretch of weather that looks to last quite a while. Today’s highs should reach the mid 90s with dew points in the 60s and a bit of a south breeze. It will feel as hot as 100° at times this afternoon due to those elevated dew points.
Heading into the weekend we’re likely to add a couple more degrees to those afternoon highs. Mid to upper 90s will be widespread both days with heat index values up to 105 possible. It is possible that afternoon highs could fall a degree or two short of the forecast if the wildfire smoke thickens at times Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
There is a small chance of a few late afternoon or evening storms Sunday that could last into very early Monday. Overall, I wouldn’t expect much more than some very isolated downpours and consider yourself lucky if you get a little rain. There isn’t much in the way of rain to be found over the next 10 days but plenty of intense heat to dry us out quickly.
