Rusty’s First Alert Forecast - Typical July weather before the prolonged heat moves in
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Mostly sunny skies will win out again today but there will be a hazy look to the skies thanks to a thin layer of elevated wildfire smoke. That smoke will be hard to shake all week but it should mostly stay elevated and not cause major air quality issues for us here at the surface. Highs today will jump to near normal in the upper 80s this afternoon too.
High temperatures will gradually warm the rest of the week with quite a heat wave on the way by the weekend. By far the main story for the foreseeable future will be the heat and overall lack of rain.
It will be humid but the heat index values should top out in the 100 to 105 range at the highest by the weekend. Overall there won’t be one incredibly hot and humid day that will be dangerous but the cumulative impact of several consecutive days of heat and humidity will be stressful on many.
