Clay’s First Alert Forecast - Mostly sunny and dry for Monday
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A stretch of dry weather kicks off today, and that will send our temperatures rising for the week.
Some patchy morning fog will burn off rather quickly today. I’m thinking we’ll see a few clouds bubble up in the warmth of the day, but otherwise it will just be a warm and muggy day. Highs around 86 should do the trick for this afternoon. Be looking for a little haze at times. We’re still seeing some smoke hanging in the sky from wildfires to our northwest.
A large area of high pressure that has been responsible for record breaking heat across the western US is forecast to build into our area this week. As a result, our highs will go from the mid 80s we’re seeing now to the mid and upper 90s by the end of the week. Mid range and long range models differ a bit on exactly how hot it will get by this weekend, but I think some transparency is helpful here. The GFS or American Model is showing highs near and above 100 degrees this weekend. The EURO Model is showing highs in the mid 90s. That’s why upper 90s appear to be a safe bet for now. We’ll see which one wins the trophy on the temperature forecast as we get closer.
