Omaha Housing Authority welcomes new public safety director

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Omaha Housing Authority announced Wednesday it has selected a new public safety director.

Jeffrey Gorley is heading to Omaha after serving in a similar capacity in New York City, where he also supervised a staff of 60 public safety officers, including both sworn special police and non-sworn security officers, the OHA release states.

Gorley has been credited with a drop in crime in public housing areas in Miami and Newark, N.J. He also served as Director of Public Safety for the Birmingham Housing District in Alabama, the release states.
