OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Parks and Recreation said Wednesday that Zorinsky Pool has been repaired and will reopen next week.

The pool will is slated to open Monday, with regular hours scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and from noon to 7 p.m. on the weekends.

Earlier this month, the parks department announced it was opening some city pools on a modified schedule this summer due to a shortage of lifeguards.

The City of Bellevue was in a similar situation last month, opening some pools at the start of June while others underwent “major repairs.” Bellevue is also experiencing the same staffing difficulties this season, according to an update Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, the city issued a notice that the Bellevue Parks and Recreation Department had decided to close the Dowding Pool on Thursday to “allow for the proper staffing necessary to operate Gilbert and Cascio pools.”

“We are expecting a large turnout at these two pools and with the extreme heat, staff would be stretched very thin and rotations of staff would not allow for proper rest between shifts,” the notice states.
