Rusty’s First Alert forecast: Hottest day of the week today, storms likely Friday morning.
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - We’re starting Thursday in the 70s and this warm morning will lead to the hottest day yet this week. Highs will easily make it into the mid 90s today with a heat index value that could hit 100 degrees for a couple hours this afternoon. Just a bit of a southeast breeze today to try to help ease the stress from the heat.
Friday morning I’ll be watching the radar for a line of storms that will be approaching from the northwest after 7am. That does have the potential to produce some strong wind gusts on the leading edge as it moves in and will likely impact the morning drive to some degree. Check out the latest on Friday’s First Alert Day right here.
Once the storms move out no later than noon or so Friday, we should be a little cooler and less humid with a high in the mid 80s. That will be the coolest for a while unfortunately as we’ll see 90 return as soon as Saturday. All signs point to another hot and dry week next week too.
