SUV, truck crash in Douglas County leaves child seriously hurt
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Neb. (WOWT) - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a crash Wednesday that put a child in the hospital in critical condition.
The crash happened at the intersection of Highways 275 and 92 — on West Center Road, near Waterloo.
Deputies told 6 News that a woman driving an SUV stopped the vehicle with her two children riding inside at the intersection and then pulled out. The SUV was then broadsided by a rock truck.
One child suffered a severe head injury and was treated at the scene for more than 30 minutes before a medical helicopter took the child to an Omaha hospital.
The woman and the other child suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
The scene has since been cleared, but the crash remains under investigation.
