OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Saint Lucia Italian Festival is returning to the Little Italy neighborhood for the first time in almost 20 years.

According to a Wednesday news release, the 97th annual festival will be held July 8 through July 11 at 10th and William streets near Sons of Italy and the Saint Frances Catholic Cabrini Church. The festival, typically held in June, was delayed a month due to the pandemic.

In recent years, the event— which started in 1925 — had been moved to Lewis and Clark Landing because of the $300 million Riverfront revitalization project underway there.

Organizers of the 2021 event worked with local neighborhood groups and the city of Omaha to “ensure a more successful event,” stated the release.

“We are extremely excited to be back in the neighborhood where it all started,” said Todd Procopio, festival president.
